Matt has a passion for geology and a keen interest to explore. His data-driven, multi-disciplinary geoscience approach is an asset to projects that get his attention. He combines traditional field work techniques with modern exploration technology to design fit-for-purpose exploration strategies, test mineralizing systems, and build integrated geological models. He is experienced in creating exploration strategies and leading teams through varied environments and dynamic programs. His field work experiences include base and precious metals, Fe-ore, REE, and uranium projects; from grassroots to advanced resource definition; with responsibilities for management and execution of all program stages.

Significant Projects

big red project, british columbia, canada

Planned and co-managed a dynamic and logistically complex mapping/sampling and heli-supported RC drill program in remote, mountainous terrain to test newly discovered significant copper porphyry and vein-hosted gold mineralization.

chuchi project, british columbia, canada

Supervised a heli-supported diamond drilling program on a Cu-Au porphyry deposit out of a road-accessible, but fly camp-style base; successfully confirmed and extended historic mineralization. Program was planned on new data acquired through targeted relogging program the previous season.

Mount Milligan Mine, British columbia, canada

Co-managed the resource expansion and exploration diamond drilling through a heli- and skid-supported four-drill program with a large and diverse exploration team on in-pit, brownfields, and greenfields targets. The successful drilling helped to better understand the hydrothermal system and architecture of the porphyries of the deposit.

Republic Mining District, washington state, USA

Managed and executed exploration programs on different precious metal projects with a wide array of field techniques. Successfully re-evaluated the geologic framework of a historic mining district considering new ore deposit models and modern exploration technology. Instrumental exploration tools included prospecting, mapping, XRF-supported soil and till sampling, soil pH surveys, water surveys; surveys with ground magnetics, EM, SP, and resistivity techniques; and trenching and diamond drilling.
